IEMF Curriculum

IEMF Is Academic Patient Centered FundamentalS + Project Based Learning.

Our fellowship is designed to empower the fellow to build on Internationalizing the academic and clinical skills already developed during residency training in Emergency Medicine.

The curriculum is based on developing abilities to develop and expand both existing and new academic collaborations in patient centered research, patient centered education, patient centered quality care and patient centered policy development in all the areas of academic emergency sciences.

Length: Two Years (24 Months)

Advanced Degree: MBA in Project Management is available as an additional qualification

Clinical Duties:  Fellow will serve as Junior faculty and work in the Emergency Department of the Sarasota Memorial Health System at Sarasota Florida. Clinical Hours upto 25 hours per week.

Skills will be gained in

  • Project management via a MBA (LSUS )
  • Epidemiology & Biostatistics
  • Project implementation by active participation in ongoing projects
  • Developing a personal project, implementing, and accomplishing it by the end of two years
  • Research development, publications and presentations
  • Providing mentorship to students and residents enthusiastic to have a career in International Medicine
  • Crisis leadership using the Meta-Leadership Model (Training offered by Harvard University)
  • Hands On International Leadership Experience and Diplomacy Training will be a strong focus of our program.
  • Travelling overseas to participate in projects will be performed once a year with a strong component of Digitally Driven Online Project development, implementation, and assessment.

International Engagement

IEMF will enable time for travel , engaging, learning and innovating. Fellows will be attending the World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine as well participate as Invited Faculty at many of prestigious national meetings in Emergency Medicine across the world. Our International Mentors will be available to our fellows as they learn the art of Project Development Program Management and Crisis Leadership.

Our established relationships via the INDUSEM Mission, The World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine and The American College of Academic International Medicine make the learning experience of our Fellows to be academically enriching.

International Joint Projects:

The Fellow will undertake Internationally in any of the one areas of Education, Safe Patient Care, Research, Innovation, and Process / Policy Development.

IRB/ ETHICS Committee approval will be obtained from the institutions involved in any research being conducted within the realms of the project.

Funding for Projects:

Funding is made available for projects. Fellows will have to submit a detailed proposal with an itemized budget. This project must be approved by the Mentor.

Appraisals and Progress Reports:

6 Monthly Progress Reports will be filed by the Fellow. This will include Completion Report on MBA Courses undertaken and the Completion of the Crisis Leadership Course when completed. The Project Reports will be reviewed by the Mentor with Comments and will be the official APR for the fellow.

Fellowship Engagements over two years:

  • Completing the Coursework for the MBA
  • Doing Clinical Shifts
  • Completing the Online Meta-Leadership Course by Harvard University
  • Actively participating & advancing Ongoing International Projects& attending Digital Meetings
  • Conceptualizing, Implementing and Accomplishing the International Project
  • Achieving the Milestones as Below

  • Journal Club Presentations at Residency Grand Rounds
  • Presentations on progress of ongoing projects & Discussions

  • 360 Degree Evaluations
  • Journal Publications & Conference Presentations
  • Progress of MBA and Leadership Parallel Course work

Graduation Criteria:

  • Consistent Achievement of Milestones in all Domains of learning
  • There will be a formal Presentation of the Project Undertaken & Accomplished by the Fellow which will be witnessed and assessed by a committee led by the fellowship director
  • Minimum two peer-reviewed publications in PubMed and two conference presentations over two years.
  • Completion of MBA
  • Completion of Meta-Leadership Certification.
